Miso Weather Privacy Policy

Miso Weather is made by SelfOrbit LLC. We built it to be genuinely private: no ads, no accounts, no selling your data, and no cross-app tracking. This policy explains the little data the app does use and why.

The short version

• No account, no sign-in. The app works the moment you open it.
• No ads. No advertising identifiers (IDFA). No data brokers.
• Your location (and any place you search) is used to find, name, and forecast places — coordinates and search text go to the weather + geocoding providers to look up the place, its time zone, and its forecast / air quality. Never sold, never linked to your identity, never used to track you.
• Miso uses coarse, first-party product events to understand feature use. Miso does not use a third-party analytics SDK. The only analytics identifier is a random per-install ID used to count returning use; it resets when the app is reinstalled. The shipping client does not send names, email addresses, account data, precise coordinates, place names, weather values, advertising/device identifiers, receipts, or user-entered free text in analytics events.

Location & places

When you allow location access — or search for and save a place — the app uses those coordinates and the place name to find and label the location and fetch its weather.

• Forecast & air quality: coordinates are sent to the weather provider — Apple WeatherKit and/or Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), including Open-Meteo's air-quality endpoint — to return your forecast, rain timing, and daily decisions.
• Finding & naming places: to turn a location into a named place, and to resolve the correct time zone for the forecast, the app uses Apple's geocoding (CLGeocoder); text place-search is resolved through a geocoding provider (Apple / Open-Meteo geocoding). Your search text and the resulting coordinates are used only to return matching places.

All of the above is not linked to your identity, not used for tracking or advertising, and not sold; each provider handles its request under its own terms. Saved places live on your device (and in the app's own storage that powers your widgets and Live Activities). You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings → Miso at any time; the app still works with a place you search for manually.

Privacy-preserving analytics

Purchases

Miso Plus subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. We only learn whether a subscription is active so the app can unlock Plus features on your devices.

What we do NOT do

• We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data.
• We do not build user profiles or track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not require an account or collect your name, email, or contacts.

Notifications

If you turn on rain heads-ups or the morning brief, the app schedules local notifications on your device using your forecast. You can turn them off any time in the app or in iOS Settings.

Children

Miso Weather is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Turn location access on or off in iOS Settings → Miso.
• Turn notifications on or off in the app or in iOS Settings → Miso.
• Delete the app to remove its on-device data. One small record is kept on purpose: the free world you claimed and the date you claimed it, stored in the iOS Keychain so that reinstalling does not reset the 30 day cooldown on trading it. It holds no personal information, and it never leaves your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the current version will be posted at this URL.
